Gainsborough drugs & violence

Gainsborough drugs & violence

We’ve launched a new campaign, working with Lincolnshire Police and West Lindsey District Council, to raise awareness of the issues caused by drug crime in Gainsborough - encouraging and enabling people to identify possible signs of drug activity, violence and exploitation, and give information to us, whilst remaining 100% anonymous.

This campaign aims to to build upon the successful work that has already been delivered in Gainsborough to reduce crime, as a part of the Violent Crime Reduction Initiative, and focuses on:
  • Drug crime activity
  • Drug-related violence
  • Exploitation of vulnerable people
There are many towns and cities throughout the UK that are affected by drug crime every year. The impact of this crime can lead to other related consequences for many people, including the exploitation of vulnerable people, the anti-social consequences of addiction, and serious violence.

In the year up to March 2020, compared to the previous 12-month period between March 2018 and March 2019, violence without injury in Gainsborough was up 28.9%. Grievous bodily harm with intent also rose in the same period, by 5.6%.

Gangs target vulnerable people to supply drugs to others within their community, and many people in Gainsborough have concerns about these crimes and those related to them. They understandably fear retaliation from the criminals and gang members they report, if those criminals were to find out who reported them.

This is why our completely anonymous reporting service is so valuable to your community. Because no one apart from you will ever know that you got in touch with us.

We’re an independent charity that gives you the power to speak up to stop crime, 100% anonymously.

Complete peace of mind

Your computer's IP addresses are never traced and no-one will ever know you contacted us. For telephone calls, we have no caller line display, no 1471 facility and have never traced a call.

Signs of possible exploitation to spot:

  • Movements are being controlled or unable to move freely.
  • May appear scared or fearful or show anxiety, avoids eye contact.
  • Multiple people accessing their homes. Unfamiliar people who appear to be staying in the address.
  • Increase in rubbish in and around the home. Accommodation appears to be poorly maintained or unkempt.
  • Suffers with regular injuries, has injuries that appear old or cannot be explained, wears the same clothes every day.
  • Has no access to bank cards or documents, money handed to someone else.
If you spot these possible signs of drug activity, violence and exploitation, you can report them to us, 100% anonymously, online or by phone.

Did you see something, but didn’t say anything?  Today you have a second chance to act and protect those that need your help.
