Anabolic steroids (also known as 'gear' or 'juice')
Anabolic steroids are controlled under the Misuse of Drugs Act as class C drugs, and some of the most commonly used drugs in this category include (but are not limited to):
- Trenbolone
- Testosterone
- Nandrolone
- Oxandrolone (Anavar, Oxavar)
Using steroids can have physical and mental health risks, for example: high blood pressure, increased risk of heart attacks, erectile dysfunction, severe acne, increased aggression.

How is this drug taken?
Anabolic steroids are usually injected into the muscle, but can also be taken as tablets or as creams or gels that are applied to the skin.
Human Growth Hormone (hRH)
Human Growth Hormone (hGH) is produced in the pituitary gland but can also be produced synthetically. Adults may be prescribed hGH to treat certain conditions. Supplying hGH without a licence is illegal. Use of hGH as a performance and image enhancing drug is prohibited in sport.
