A Christmas message from our Chief Executive

Christmas greetings to you all!
The festive season is a great time to pause and reflect on how we’re doing and where we are going as a charity. Whilst the past year has been eventful for the UK in so many ways, Crimestoppers continues to be here, 24/7, providing a vital service.
We are working hard to keep our communities, and those we care for, safe from harm.
Much of this is down to our new website and branding, our more focused awareness campaigns and the fact that some people are using us after trying to call 101.
Thanks to successful bids for funding to PCCs across the country, in 2019 we will see our Fearless youth workers rise from 4 to 12; a remarkable increase.
We are also really heartened that the public is responding better than ever to critical issues of County Lines, serious violence and domestic abuse; this work will continue apace.
The next year will also see us working with more businesses in a raft of areas, but notably developing new and effective ways to prevent fraud.
Using feedback from our series of At Your Place events across the UK, we are currently renewing the way we work with our volunteers to ensure both they and we get the most out of the huge contribution they make to our charity’s work. This will also, critically, set the scene for development of a renewed Crimestoppers strategy for the next 5 years.
I hope you have a truly wonderful Christmas and New Year and look forward to your continued support throughout 2019.

Look back over 2018
As you may have seen recently in the national media, Crimestoppers is busier than ever, giving a voice to the many people who need our help.We are working hard to keep our communities, and those we care for, safe from harm.
Success story
With a record 450,000 people contacting us, we are clearly reaching out in an effective and meaningful way to a diverse population, including building on our success with young people. Almost half of those who use our charity’s service are aged under-35 and one in five is from a black or minority ethnic group.Much of this is down to our new website and branding, our more focused awareness campaigns and the fact that some people are using us after trying to call 101.
Priorities for 2019
Youth crime remains a persistent problem. With rising knife crime, our unique approach through Fearless.org is more important than ever. Giving young people options in terms of reporting crime, whilst remaining 100% anonymous, is key to fulfilling our role.
