Our #ClosedtoCrime campaign

Rodger Holden, our Director of Business Development, explains the rationale behind our #ClosedtoCrime campaign, which encourages everyone to tell us if they see something suspicious or have information about crimes targeting businesses.
These are very difficult times for businesses, so Crimestoppers is always very keen to provide a platform to share insights. We know that commercial burglary and attacks on property are a real concern for organisations at the moment.
The Crimestoppers #ClosedtoCrime campaign seeks to bring us together, sharing experiences and ways of addressing particular crimes. What are organisations doing? Are there potential partnerships or initiatives that any one of us should know about and join?
At Crimestoppers, we take information on all types of crime targeting businesses, customers and their communities. However, sometimes we don’t know what we’ve got unless someone asks. The #ClosedtoCrime campaign is a very much an opportunity to help us learn, and support organisations building resilience to crime.
No single organisation has all the answers - but we have noticed during the course of this pandemic that there has been a far greater willingness for open co-operation. Let’s hope that this continues when things begin to settle.

We want to keep businesses #ClosedtoCrime so that they can safely reopen when the time comes. You can read about our campaign in more detail here.

Graham Mott of LINK, the UK’s largest cash machine network, has added his support:
“LINK has been a supporter of Crimestoppers since way back in 2008, and we are delighted to work with them on this new initiative to tackle crime, which remains a serious concern for the whole cash and ATM industry.
“Attacks on ATMs or the businesses which house them can have a serious impact on local communities, many of which are in remote or rural areas.
“As well as the cash losses, damage to premises and loss of business, these crimes can affect local communities’ access to cash, which is now more important than ever.
“We look forward to working with Crimestoppers to help keep our streets and communities safe.”
Morrisons' David Halsall said:
“Our supermarket has worked with Crimestoppers for many years and we fully support their campaign to tackle crime against business.
“The harm caused by criminals can be significant and so we urge people with information, who wish to stay anonymous, to contact the charity.”
