Jamie Acourt becomes 81st Operation Captura fugitive arrested

Following a joint National Crime Agency, Met Police and Spanish National Police operation, Acourt became the 81^st fugitive to be located since Operation Captura launched in 2006 from 96 appealed for.

Armed officers detained Acourt after he left the Metropolitan Sagrada Familia Gym on Friday May 4^th.

The 41-year-old from south London, who was wanted by the Met Police, is believed to be involved in the large-scale supply of drugs.

"It’s eleven and a half years since we launched Operation Captura and we continue to see results with wanted individuals being located and arrested.

“I commend the work of our partners, the National Crime Agency and the Spanish Police, for this latest arrest, and would remind people to visit the Crimestoppers website, view those fugitives still on the run, and tell our charity where they are.

“I promise you that you will remain 100% anonymous. Always.

“Acourt thought he could evade capture but as a result of an intelligence-led operation his days on the run have ended. We were able to direct the Spanish authorities to his location in Barcelona.

“Our ability to share information and work at speed with our international partners ensures there is no safe haven for fugitives. We will never stop pursuing these individuals.”
