Former Trustee Baroness Trumpington passes

Our charity was sad to learn today of the loss of one of our former Trustees, Baroness Trumpington, who passed away at the age of 96.

A witty, funny and modest individual, Baroness Trumpington joined Crimestoppers in April 2004 and worked to raise our profile, most notably during a speech to the House of Lords in 2008, where she spoke positively about our successes and the value of our charity.

Born in 1922 and educated in England and France, the Baroness was a former Minister of State at the old Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (1989 to 1992).  She had an interest in bridge, racing and antique hunting.  First name Jean, she spent five years with the charity, stepping down as a Trustee in August 2009.

A highly-skilled codebreaker during the Second World War, she was held in great esteem amongst colleagues, politicians, and those of us at Crimestoppers during her time as a Trustee.

Our thoughts go out to her family as they no doubt reminisce about a woman who lived the most interesting of lives.
