10 years of Crimestoppers in New Zealand

We're offering many congratulations to our friends and colleagues at Crimestoppers New Zealand as they mark their tenth year of operation.

The anniversary was marked with an event at Government House in Wellington, which was hosted by the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Rt Hon Dame Patsy Reddy (pictured below).

The Crimestoppers New Zealand (Crimestoppers) charity was formed in 2009 with John Perham as the founding Chair, with considerable and generous support from Crimestoppers UK Chairman Lord Ashcroft.

At the celebratory event, Mr Perham was awarded a Police Commissioner’s Certificate of Appreciation by Mike Bush, Commissioner of Police, as an acknowledgment of his contribution in leading the charity.

Since its foundation, Crimestoppers New Zealand has expanded its information dissemination from solely the police to now including Customs, Immigration and Corrections. The charity has received more than over 200,000 telephone reports, with the police recording over 75,000 entries in their intelligence database since 2009 - the highest monthly return was recorded in March this year during the Christchurch terror attack period.

On behalf of Crimestoppers UK, many congratulations to all involved.
