Running in the dark for a good cause!

Our final Guernsey Runway Run took place on last Saturday, raising over £4,000 for Crimestoppers.

Beginning at Guernsey Airport at 11pm, the 5 km Run has been a successful Crimestoppers event for the past five years and, as in previous years, runners were attracted by the somewhat surreal experience of running the length of the runway, guided by the landing lights and a full moon.

The evening was gloriously warm and conditions were clear - thankfully, there was none of last year's fog!

Ticket sales have increased and sold out every year, and this year was no exception, with more than 500 people signing up – we even had to create a waiting list!

Becoming a popular event on the island over the last five years, as well as raisng awareness of Crimestoppers and the service we offer, the Run has also helped other charities, such as The Channel Islands Air Search, St John Ambulance, GSPCA and Grow Limited.

We’d like to finish by saying a big Crimestoppers thank you to Harriet Black, to the 50 volunteers who gave up their Saturday evening and, in particular, to Mike Smith for helping to organise this brilliant event over the last few years.

If you’re inspired by the Run, and you fancy taking on a challenge on behalf of Crimestoppers, remember that we’re always on the look-out for people to join our London Marathon team – find out more here.
