Stuart Lubbock murder reward doubled to £40k as new Channel 4 documentary airs

After nearly 19 years since Stuart Lubbock was found dead in the pool at TV personality Michael Barrymore’s home, our charity has teamed up with Essex Police and The Sun newspaper to offer a combined reward of up to £40,000 for information.

This is the first time any reward has been offered in connection with the case, and this reward comes as a new documentary is aired on Channel 4:  'Barrymore: The Body in the Pool'.

Stuart’s body was found in the swimming pool of the Roydon home of Michael Barrymore on 31 March, 2001. The 31-year-old had been attending a party at the property with eight other people.

Despite attempts to save him, he later died in hospital. A post-mortem examination found Stuart had suffered horrific internal injuries, which experts believe were the result of a serious sexual assault that happened prior to Stuart’s death.

The cause of Stuart’s death remains unascertained, and an inquest in 2002 recorded an open verdict.

Speaking after The Sun doubled our reward to a combined total of £40,000, Lord Ashcroft, Founder and Chair of the charity Crimestoppers, said:

“We are delighted that The Sun is supporting Crimestoppers in our attempts to get justice for Terry Lubbock’s son. We hope anyone with information will contact us. We guarantee you stay 100% anonymous.“
