Crimestoppers' co-founding Trustee Dr. David Hammond passes away

It is with sadness that we announce that David Hammond, one of the founders of the Charity Crimestoppers, some 32 years ago, has passed away.
He saw from the start the enormous good that the Charity could do and together with our Chair, Lord Ashcroft, and other like-minded individuals did the hard but critical work of turning a vision into a reality.
He served on the Board without break from 1988 to 2018 when he finally retired. For most of that period he was our Deputy Chair and Head of the Audit Committee where his piercing intellect and ability to quickly assimilate and analyse information always ensured that the books were in good order.
Blessed with an eye for detail, and a man who both set and maintained himself the highest of standards, he was also extremely encouraging to other Trustees, senior management and staff alike and cared passionately about making the country a safer place. Even in retirement, he continued to engage and support us widely, which was much appreciated and a measure of a man who gave selflessly to charitable institutions.
His loss is felt by all members of the Charity, past and present. Our thoughts are with his family.
