Football club celebrates local Committee’s awards win

Northampton Town Football Club has been celebrating our Northamptonshire Committee’s win in the recent Crimestoppers Volunteering Awards.

Anna Letts, the club’s Premier League Kicks co-ordinator, is a member of our Committee. Premier League Kicks (funded by the Premier League’s charitable fund PLCF) is part of the Committee's efforts to reduce crime levels, and involves providing engaging sporting activities, such as free weekly football sessions, for young people in key areas of the county to help keep them safe from criminal activities.

Awareness is being raised in local primary schools, with the Northampton Town Community Trust staff providing Fearless and anti-crime workshops, to educate young people around knife crime, gangs, County Lines and anti-social behaviour, and to help them understand more about the dangers of criminal activities within their local communities.

In the last 18 months, our Northamptonshire Committee has worked tirelessly to promote Fearless in and around the secluded communities within Northamptonshire, which are dealing with high levels of drug crime, violence, weapons and gang crime, amongst other issues. Our Committee has worked on new initiatives, facilitated engagement days and delivered campaigns in these areas to enable young people to find a way out of a life of crime and discover the information they need to help make the decision to report information on crime.

In doing so, our committee has delivered theatre productions to over 1,500 students, facilitated events attended by over 700 people and delivered the Fearless message to over 10,000 students, with a further 4,000 due to be delivered to this year.

"It is fantastic to see that the committee have been recognised for all the work that they do. I am so pleased that PL Kicks is playing a part in this important work to help reduce crime, educate young people and make the county a safer place to be."
