Hartlepool father’s disappearance prompts £10,000 murder reward

Hartlepool father’s disappearance prompts £10,000 murder reward

Crimestoppers is offering a reward and appealing for information over the disappearance of a man from Hartlepool.

Scott Fletcher was last seen on 11 May 2011 and has not been heard from or seen by anyone since that time. He was 27 years old when he disappeared.

On the night of 11th May 2011, the father of one left the family home in Hartlepool and was allegedly dropped off in a vehicle by a person known to him in a lay by on the A181 in Durham in order to meet a female.

It is strongly believed that Scott Fletcher was murdered in the Durham area and his body disposed of shortly afterwards. Scott’s body has never been found.

Seven people from the Durham area were arrested for conspiracy to murder and later released.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information given exclusively to our charity that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the murder of Scott Fletcher.

***Note: Information passed directly to police will not qualify. The reward will only qualify for information passed to Crimestoppers’ 0800 555 111 number or via our Anonymous Online Form
“Scott’s family are desperate to know his whereabouts and what happened to him. It’s nine years now since he disappeared. They’ve suffered enough without having any answers.

“As a charity that helps people speak up about what they know whilst guaranteeing complete anonymity, we’re urging anyone with information about Scott to contact us. Someone, indeed a number of people, may be aware of the circumstances and yet, to date, have stayed silent.

“No family should have to be kept in the dark or unable to find some form of closure when a loved one has disappeared in such circumstances. Our charity is well aware that for some people, speaking directly to the police or authorities is not an option or they are reluctant to do so for a number of reasons. Maybe loyalties have changed over the years, maybe you’ve had suspicions, but because it was too close to home you have kept quiet.

“We believe in safe communities. We have been taking information about crime anonymous since we began over 32 years ago. That information brings justice to families, helps protect vulnerable children and adults and helps stop crime.

“If you know who was responsible or have information about Scott’s murder, there’s never been a better time to speak up and you may be eligible for a reward. Every day over a thousand people contact our charity. Even if you think your information is insignificant, it could make all the difference. You can speak to us anonymously by calling our UK Contact Centre which is open 24/7 on freephone 0800 555 111 or you can use our simple and secure Anonymous Online Form. Everyone stays 100% anonymous. Always.”
